Biography

Brian Larkin divides his time between Rhode Island and Provincetown, Massachusetts, where he exhibits regularly. Very active in the world of art in those locations, he finds his muse in both the city and the sea. Larkin's work reveals his unique ability to fulfill the universal calling of the artist . to present a different point of view. Using painting and sculptural constructions, his work stimulates the imagination and challenges the status quo. In much of his work, the artist has captured a moment, a vivid but fleeting impact of color and technique, which evoke powerful suggestions of mood. Although some of his work is experimental, it excites but never alienates his audience.

He works in a variety of styles and techniques from traditional watercolors to hybrid combinations of media that stretch the limits of what a given medium can and should do. In testing these limits, he is able to evoke a visceral impact on the viewer.

Brian Larkin is represented by Galleria Raffaello in the gallery district of Provincetown's east end. Other representation was with Robyn Watson Gallery, Isolté Gallery and the Icon Gallery, all in Provincetown. He has mounted several solo shows in Provincetown and in Providence, RI at The Providence Art Club. He shows work throughout the year at The Provincetown Art Association and Museum, The Cape Cod Art Association and other group venues. His work is in several permanent collections including Provincetown's Fine Arts Center and Providence's Miriam Hospital. Many of his pieces are held in private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Australia.
